


{"id":338850,"date":"2023-12-16T11:19:29","date_gmt":"2023-12-16T11:19:29","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/problem-with-mesh-on-rubber-in-static-analysis\/"},"modified":"2023-12-18T09:41:09","modified_gmt":"2023-12-18T09:41:09","slug":"problem-with-mesh-on-rubber-in-static-analysis","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/problem-with-mesh-on-rubber-in-static-analysis\/","title":{"rendered":"Problem with mesh on rubber in static analysis"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Hi all.<\/span><\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">I&#8217;m modeling an inflating rubber.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The problem is axisymmetric.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">It is installed in a pipe.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The left end is fixed, the right end can move along the axis (there is a lock).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Pressure 7 MPa, material NEO Huquean.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/16-12-2023-1702725460-mceclip0.png\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/12\/16-12-2023-1702725500-mceclip2.png\"><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">During the calculation, everything goes well, but at 50% of the load the calculation stops due to the mesh breaking, and in the most unexpected place, where a thin spot (hernia) occurs.<\/span><\/span>&nbsp;<\/span><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">If you look at the Newton Raphson residuals, everything points to this place.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Newton Raphson residuals do not indicate contacts.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">All contacts are debugged, Normal Lagrange.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Convergence control for displacement, moment and force is turned on by 5%.<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">All simple settings are taken into account (large reflection, etc.).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The type of solver I use is Program Controlled (I also tried Direct and Iterative).<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">The mesh always breaks there (distortet error).<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">I tried everything:<br \/>changed the contact method (normal and augmented Lagrange)<br \/>changed contact detection<br \/>added dumping in contacts<br \/>I also added general damping with constant = 0.02 (in this case the rubber does not deform at all)<br \/>I changed the mesh type (nonlinear mechanics and mechanics)<br \/>I changed the grid size (quadratic and linear)<br \/>I tried remeshing the mesh according to the given parameters<br \/>I also added KEYOPT, matid, 6, 1 to the material<br \/>I used all possible life hacks, but the grid breaks down there.<br \/><strong>Why?
