


{"id":33438,"date":"2019-02-22T22:05:54","date_gmt":"2019-02-22T22:05:54","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/icepak-mesh-quality\/"},"modified":"2019-02-22T22:05:54","modified_gmt":"2019-02-22T22:05:54","slug":"icepak-mesh-quality","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/icepak-mesh-quality\/","title":{"rendered":"Icepak Mesh Quality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am modeling a small motor in Icepak, linked to Maxwell through the Workbench.&nbsp; I am having convergence problems in Icepak and I think it&#8217;s a meshing issue.&nbsp; When I generate a mesh using the defaults I get poor face alignment.&nbsp; In a different thread it was suggested that all CAD objects be meshed using the multilevel mesher, but that doesn&#8217;t seem to help.&nbsp; Sometimes the multilevel mesher actually generates a different error wherein I get negative cell volumes, but sometimes it does complete&#8230;just with poor face alignment.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The culprit cells are in many different places in my model&#8230;some in the hollow region inside the steel, some in the steel itself, and some where the steel meets the air.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve tried to &#8220;massage&#8221; this away with different mesh settings, but I&#8217;m not really sure what to try.&nbsp; Nothing in this model is an Icepak object except the cabinet, which I&#8217;m really just using for the fluid boundary conditions, so I&#8217;m somewhat limited in what type of mesh I can even use.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Is there anything in particular I should be looking into, or am I reaching a brick wall here?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Thanks,<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Matt<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-33438","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_old_topic_id":["5610"],"_bbp_old_topic_author_name_id":["Anonymous"],"_bbp_old_is_topic_anonymous_id":["false"],"_bbp_old_closed_status_id":["publish"],"_bbp_author_ip":[null],"_bbp_old_sticky_status_id":["normal"],"_bbp_likes_count":["0","0","0","0","0"],"_btv_view_count":["4071"],"_bbp_subscription":["235828"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["33438"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27790"],"_bbp_engagement":["156040","165501"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["7"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["86003"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["86003"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2019-05-24 14:21:53"]},"test":"meiermat"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/33438","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/33438\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=33438"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
