I have attached a figure in which i am analyzing impact of punch with hollow beam of 2mm thickness fixed at both ends. The beam material is Aluminium and the punch is steel (rigid). But, when i analyze i get too much hourglass energy as evident in the attached figure. For this i tried changing the mesh and refined it, changed the number of data points from 20 to 100, tried different velocities and changed the erosion controls from geometric strain to material failure, but the problem is still not solved. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Initially i started with curved beam and i got hourglass energy too much. After that i tried to make the beam straight but still it is the same problem as discussed above. Can anyone help me in this regard.
