


{"id":312289,"date":"2023-10-19T11:45:36","date_gmt":"2023-10-19T11:45:36","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/icem-airfoil-meshing-in-icem-cfd\/"},"modified":"2023-10-19T11:45:36","modified_gmt":"2023-10-19T11:45:36","slug":"icem-airfoil-meshing-in-icem-cfd","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/icem-airfoil-meshing-in-icem-cfd\/","title":{"rendered":"[ICEM] Airfoil Meshing in icem-cfd"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi everyone,<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">I want to block the following 3D airfoil in ICEM and create a structured mesh for it.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/19-10-2023-1697714161-Naca0021-Non Wave.PNG\" alt=\"\" width=\"787\" height=\"439\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"lRu31\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">I blocked it as below<\/span><\/span><\/span><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">, which according to the figure below has 5 blocks, 3 of which are in the front, top and bottom of the airfoil and 2 of which are behind the airfoil.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\" style=\"padding-left: 80px\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/19-10-2023-1697714367-5645.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"761\" height=\"259\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\" style=\"padding-left: 80px\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">Now, I have created an initial mesh on the created block, which is as shown in the figure below:<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\" style=\"padding-left: 40px\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/10\/19-10-2023-1697714464-3.PNG\" alt=\"\" width=\"823\" height=\"524\"><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\">&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div class=\"lRu31\"><span class=\"HwtZe\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"jCAhz ChMk0b\"><span class=\"ryNqvb\">According to the figure above, the mesh in front of the airfoil (front block) has less density than the upper and lower blocks of the airfoil and is not uniform.You might say that the problem can be solved by increasing the number of relevant block nodes.&nbsp;But it is not. I increased the number of nodes.
