


{"id":311736,"date":"2023-10-16T22:20:42","date_gmt":"2023-10-16T22:20:42","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/diffusivity-calculation\/"},"modified":"2023-10-16T22:20:42","modified_gmt":"2023-10-16T22:20:42","slug":"diffusivity-calculation","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/diffusivity-calculation\/","title":{"rendered":"Diffusivity calculation"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear CFD Colleagues,<\/p>\n<p>I write on behalf of my research team at UAlberta to inquire about the calculation of the mass diffusivity coefficient.<\/p>\n<p>We are aware that Fluent is able to calculate the mixture mass diffusivity natively using various methods (one of them being the Kinetic theory method).<br \/>Our goal is to take said diffusivity and modify it mathematically according to our needs within a UDF macro (to determine, for instance, the effective diffusivity or the dispersion coefficient in a porous bed).<br \/>However, once we select the &#8216;user-defined&#8217; method, it seems that we are required to code the <em>full<\/em> formulation of diffusivity <em>from scratch<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, our question is: Is there a way to still obtain the diffusivity calculated by Fluent whilst using the &#8216;user-defined&#8217; method? (I.e. invoke the value calculated by Fluent within a DEFINE_DIFFUSIVITY macro, so that we can modify it afterwards and return an updated diffusivity).<\/p>\n<p>Thank you for your assistance in
