The core consists of beam bodies and the facesheets of surface bodies:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/f441796b-1521-4a88-bfda-a96e00f859b5_1.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The original sandwich is after hiding the top face can be seen here:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/2bfd498d-2f5f-4e1f-b7a0-a96e00f8b74b_2.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I want to cut the panel in half and model the 1\/2 of it by applying a symmetry boundary condition, but since the core is not normal symmetrical but has a repetitive pattern I am trying to use linear periodeic symmetry region.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>After cutting accordingly the repetitive half that remains is the following:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/ca68e9e2-eba5-4f06-88b4-a96e00f9fab2_3.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I set the low boundary in the following edges of the facesheets:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/543dd4e6-9313-4129-8ed1-a96e00fd6983_4.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>and the high boundary in the according opposite edges of the facesheets :<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/801069ae-820d-425f-823a-a96e00fdd760_5.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I set the coordinate system at the high boundary edges:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/9e223db7-05b1-435d-86be-a96e00fe4978_6.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>and set the linear shift value as the distance of these edges: 36,83mm in the Y periodicity direction.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The model gets meshed but it doesn&#8217;t run, I get different pivot warnings each time and have to limit a node every time with a remote displacement bc.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>After setting the grapcical extension in &Delta;Y : <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/04e57bcd-a36a-4368-94b4-a96e00ffb77f_7.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I hit show mesh and I get the following :<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/122a2f2d-449c-4db3-b403-a96e010021d8_8.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>(again the upper facesheet is hided).<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>So the linear periodic symmetry is not applied, or at least is not shown to be applied. A normal symmetry is showed and the core is not as it should be.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The surface bodies of the facesheets and the beam bodies of the core share topology from spaceclaim. The setup is a three point bending test:<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/8d46653d-9dfb-4299-a36e-a94201378e8f\/83ce7b0e-9738-4f4b-9cac-a96e0104f022_9.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>How can I correctly set the symmetry in this model?
