What I mean by that is an individual substep will converge, then the solution loses convergence on the first iteration of the next substep. I&#8217;ve included an image below to show what I mean.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/1c250130-6f4e-4586-97c5-a94a01870a1a\/10d47f28-300c-4e57-89ac-a954016dfa59_failed-convergence.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve run this simulation many times using different parameters with similar results. In several cases,&nbsp;multiple substeps will converge, but the solution will always lose convergence in the iteration immediately following the converged iteration.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Is this a problem that can be fixed simply by adding&nbsp;more substeps? More generally, does this pattern (converged substep followed by immediate loss of convergence) indicate a particular solution?<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I am happy to provide any further information as necessary.
