All three components are under interference fit and three components have three different alloy materials.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Please see the below image below for the component description.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/34854a5c-ec2a-4d5c-a455-a8d50016f7af\/27054978-bbc1-492c-badf-a8d50023adc0_test-img.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Component 1 is fixed from both ends. No other forces are included for the simulation. All the contact surfaces are in &#8220;Frictional Contact&#8221; with 0.1 c.f. All the contact surfaces have matching mesh density. 20 node hexagonal elements are used with sweep meshing. Mesh biasing is used to have more mesh density near the contact surfaces.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Below are the diameters of the three components.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Component 1 = 20 mm<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Component 2 = 20.1 mm<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Component 3 = 19.9 mm&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>In the component 2 Maximum stress occurs in the outer two edges where the three components meet. (blue lines&nbsp; shown in the below image)<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/us.v-cdn.net\/6032193\/uploads\/attachments\/34854a5c-ec2a-4d5c-a455-a8d50016f7af\/34604ce5-4d55-4b38-bb55-a8d500259d3c_stress.jpg?width=690&amp;upscale=false\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>To see if the result is independent of the mesh, I did a mesh convergence study. Issue is when the mesh density is increased to have more element neat the the contact surfaces, the maximum stress kept increasing. So there were no convergence reached when the mesh density is increased.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>I even tried changing the contact detection method, contact formulation method and tried increasing the contact stiffness.
