However, we are having difficulties with plotting\/interpreting the extracted far-field data. Accordingly, we have a few questions regarding this:<\/p>\n<p>Primarily, we want to recreate the polar plot of the 3D far-field using that can be seen using the visualizer inside the FDTD software using OriginLab software. For example, this image is taken from the visualizer:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"x_x_Picture_x0020_3\" class=\"Do8Zj\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/05\/30-05-2023-1685459575-blobid0.png\" data-imagetype=\"AttachmentByCid\" data-custom=\"AAMkADFmMDk0MDBjLWE2MjYtNGRlMy04NjEzLWY5NzQ3MzRjZTIxMABGAAAAAACybvD7KdEvQrNV28kYow3WBwAGvgr4%2Fk0KQKl%2FRgpzDV8VAAAAAAEJAAAGvgr4%2Fk0KQKl%2FRgpzDV8VAAHNsS%2BBAAABEgAQAAcGEb7q9HBFuE20A5PkvxI%3D\"><\/p>\n<p>We have converted the ux and uy data to values of theta and phi using the script at the bottom of this webpage from the Ansys website: <a href=\"https:\/\/optics.ansys.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360034410194-farfieldspherical-Script-command\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"0\">https:\/\/optics.ansys.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360034410194-farfieldspherical-Script-command<\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, we have some confusion about the interpretation of these values.<\/p>\n<ol start=\"1\" type=\"1\">\n<li>From the output of this script, the values of theta range of from -90 to 90. As described here:&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/optics.ansys.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360034394294-Understanding-direction-unit-vector-coordinates-in-far-field-projections\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-auth=\"NotApplicable\" data-linkindex=\"1\">Understanding direction unit vector coordinates in far field projections &ndash; Ansys Optics<\/a>&nbsp;the fields are calculated on a hemispherical surface located 1 meter away from the simulation region, and the range of theta is from 0 to 180 degrees (0 to pi radians).
