


{"id":28357,"date":"2017-11-09T18:06:02","date_gmt":"2017-11-09T18:06:02","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/particle-impact-upon-a-substrate-thermal-spraying-using-fluent\/"},"modified":"2017-11-09T18:06:02","modified_gmt":"2017-11-09T18:06:02","slug":"particle-impact-upon-a-substrate-thermal-spraying-using-fluent","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/particle-impact-upon-a-substrate-thermal-spraying-using-fluent\/","title":{"rendered":"Particle Impact upon a substrate (Thermal Spraying) using FLUENT"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hi all<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>As part of my 5th year group project I am studying coating formations of Titanium Particles impacting a Titanium substrate at high velocity.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>The simulation has been set up using the Laminar Solver with the Energy Equation enabled, the Dynamic Mesh setup for a deforming mesh at an input velocity of 1000m\/s.&nbsp; When solved transiently the particle is seen to move towards the substrate as expected.&nbsp; However for some unknown reason the particle simply passes through the substrate as if it wasn&#8217;t there.&nbsp; I have spoken to one of my supervisors about the issue to no prevail.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Would anybody have any insight into the issue?&nbsp; There are papers available that show what I&#8217;m trying to do is possible, but there is no information into how the simulation was setup.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Thanks.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-28357","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t<!-- All in One SEO 4.9.10 - aioseo.com -->\n\t<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Hi all As part of my 5th year group project I am studying coating formations of Titanium Particles impacting a Titanium substrate at high velocity.
