


{"id":256631,"date":"2019-01-03T14:24:17","date_gmt":"2019-01-03T14:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/how-do-you-display-mass-of-a-solid\/"},"modified":"2019-01-03T14:24:17","modified_gmt":"2019-01-03T14:24:17","slug":"how-do-you-display-mass-of-a-solid","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/how-do-you-display-mass-of-a-solid\/","title":{"rendered":"How do you display mass of a solid?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> How do you display mass of a solid? <\/p>\n<p> I&#8217;ve followed the below instructions from help, but even with the title of &#8220;To view mass properties of a solid&#8221; it doesn&#8217;t appear to address how to do this.&nbsp; It directs you how to &#8220;display its volume, <strong>center of <\/strong>mass, and principle moments and axes&#8221;, but no actual mass that I can find?? <\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>To view mass properties of a solid<\/h3>\n<ol>\n<li>\n<p> Click <strong>Mass<\/strong> in the Inspect group on the Measure tab. <\/p>\n<p> Click a solid in the Structure tree or by triple-clicking it in the Design window to display its volume, center of mass, and principle moments and axes. <\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p> A small origin appears at the center of volume with its axes oriented in the direction of the principle axes. To calculate the principle moments and axes for another point, hold <strong>Alt<\/strong> and select an origin to add it to your selection. <\/p>\n<p> To calculate the actual moment of inertia, multiply the moment measurement by the density of the solid. <\/p>\n<p> The axis is indicated with x, y, z values; in the figure above, these values are (0, -1, 0).
