{"id":243011,"date":"2022-12-06T00:39:59","date_gmt":"2022-12-06T00:39:59","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/issue-with-submodel-displacement\/"},"modified":"2022-12-06T00:39:59","modified_gmt":"2022-12-06T00:39:59","slug":"issue-with-submodel-displacement","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/issue-with-submodel-displacement\/","title":{"rendered":"Issue with submodel displacement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;m trying to resolve a problem I keep having with my submodels no matter what I try.<\/p>\n<p>As you can see overall my displacement looks pretty good.&nbsp; My boundaries do not though upon closer inspection and my stress is often 20-40MPa off during my initial run when I don&#8217;t modify the mesh or anything else.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/06-12-2022-1670286226-displacement comparison.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"902\" height=\"303\"><\/p>\n<p>All of the surfaces I have selected as boundary conditions stretch in weird ways.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/06-12-2022-1670286882-displacement issue.JPG\" alt=\"\"><\/p>\n<p>You can see below the surface on the left deformed naturally which has the bolt included in the submodel.&nbsp; The surface on the right does not have the bolt included and I selected the contact as the boundary condition.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/12\/06-12-2022-1670286826-bolt comapirson.JPG\" alt=\"\" width=\"1107\" height=\"191\"><\/p>\n<p>What am I doing wrong?&nbsp; My process is to duplicate a succesful assembly, suppress all the parts I don&#8217;t want which suppresses all the related contacts and loads, and import all for &#8220;source time&#8221;.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t want to do all, I&#8217;d like to only look at the displacement at the last step but I can&#8217;t get it to work right either way.&nbsp; I don&#8217;t change any of the other loads, temps, or pretensions and let it run through all of the load steps.<\/p>\n<p>TIA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-243011","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_subscription":["52330","88"],"_bbp_author_ip":["23.192.164.18"]," _bbp_last_reply_id":["0"]," _bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_btv_view_count":["1825"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["243011"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27791"],"_bbp_engagement":["88","52330"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["1"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["243084"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["243084"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2022-12-06 11:56:49"]},"test":"rmcguinnessclearmotion-com"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/243011","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/243011\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=243011"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
