{"id":239802,"date":"2022-11-04T16:49:23","date_gmt":"2022-11-04T16:49:23","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/ansys-mechanical-distributed-solver-does-not-start-from-the-ide\/"},"modified":"2022-11-04T16:49:23","modified_gmt":"2022-11-04T16:49:23","slug":"ansys-mechanical-distributed-solver-does-not-start-from-the-ide","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/ansys-mechanical-distributed-solver-does-not-start-from-the-ide\/","title":{"rendered":"Ansys Mechanical distributed solver does not start from the IDE."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello,<\/p>\n<p>I am doing user support for our University&#8217;s HPC center, running Ansys products on our HPC clusters under the SLURM scheduler.<\/p>\n<p>We installed 2022 R2 on Rocky Linux 8.5 (equivalent to CentOS 8.5), and things work alright, except for launching the Mechanical distributed solver from the IDL.<\/p>\n<p>I select the Distributed in the Solve menu section, and when pushing Solve it stops in the creating mathematical model area with the following message:<br \/>An error occured while starting the solver module. Please refer to the Troubleshooting section in the Ansys Mechanical Users Guide for more information.<\/p>\n<p>I can&#8217;t find any more information on the reason of the error, and would appreciate if you have any pointers on that. E.g. any environment variable or option to set for more verbose output for what the IDE does prior to the solver launch, where would these log files be located, etc.<\/p>\n<p>I have verified that the MPI works alright, e.g.:<br \/>mpitest222 -np 2<br \/>latency = &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;2.5785 microseconds<br \/>&#8230;<br \/>mpitest222 -mpi openmpi -np 2<br \/>latency = &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;1.1032 microseconds<\/p>\n<p>Also, running the Mechanical from the command line works alright, e.g.:<br \/>ansys222 -dis -b -np 4 -i input_crankshaft.dat<\/p>\n<p>Thus I am fairly stuck now in trying to figure out what&#8217;s happening when the IDE is launching the solver, e.g. what command is it using, what is the error message, etc. Perhaps there is a verbose option or environment variable that can provide more information?<\/p>\n<p>Thanks,<br \/>Martin<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-239802","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_subscription":["207864","13694"],"_bbp_author_ip":["23.48.209.109"]," _bbp_last_reply_id":["0"]," _bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_btv_view_count":["2462"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["239802"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27791"],"_bbp_engagement":["13694","207864"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["11"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["240156"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["240156"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2022-11-08 17:53:32"]},"test":"m-cumautah-edu"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/239802","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/239802\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=239802"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
