


{"id":238203,"date":"2022-10-20T08:03:07","date_gmt":"2022-10-20T08:03:07","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/calculation-of-inductance-matrix-without-return-conductor-and-with-return\/"},"modified":"2022-10-20T08:08:19","modified_gmt":"2022-10-20T08:08:19","slug":"calculation-of-inductance-matrix-without-return-conductor-and-with-return","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/calculation-of-inductance-matrix-without-return-conductor-and-with-return\/","title":{"rendered":"Calculation of inductance matrix without return conductor and with return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello,<\/p>\n<p>I am using Eddy current solver to calculate the frequency-dependent impedance for electrical motors.<\/p>\n<p>I want to calculate the inductance of each conductor and their coupling.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>At first I use one pole simulation as follows.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666253069-mceclip0.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666253069-mceclip0.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, I excite two neighboring conductors as follows:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252147-mceclip1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252147-mceclip1.png\" width=\"420\" height=\"401\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252170-mceclip2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252170-mceclip2.png\" width=\"422\" height=\"247\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, the inductance matrix will be set as&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252233-mceclip3.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252233-mceclip3.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I run the simulation at 20 kHz,<\/p>\n<p>I get the results as follows:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252284-mceclip4.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252284-mceclip4.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However,&nbsp; they values are too small.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Then, I run the simulation for a pole pair, and the model is&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666253291-mceclip0.png\" width=\"515\" height=\"271\"><\/p>\n<p>For the excitation this time, I uses winding and coils.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>the first coil&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252454-mceclip6.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252454-mceclip6.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>the second coil&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252485-mceclip7.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252485-mceclip7.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Then, the inductance matrix is set:<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252783-mceclip11.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252783-mceclip11.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>afte Simulation, the results are<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"wp-colorbox-image cboxElement\" href=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252829-mceclip12.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/10\/20-10-2022-1666252829-mceclip12.png\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The results are much larger than the result in the first case.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>However, I suppose a factor of 2 between them because a turn consists of two conductors.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, my question is, why there is such a large difference.
