


{"id":235097,"date":"2022-09-13T10:55:22","date_gmt":"2022-09-13T10:55:22","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/oilflow-pathlines-get-aborted\/"},"modified":"2022-09-13T10:55:22","modified_gmt":"2022-09-13T10:55:22","slug":"oilflow-pathlines-get-aborted","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/oilflow-pathlines-get-aborted\/","title":{"rendered":"Oilflow pathlines get aborted"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Hi all,<\/p>\n<p>I&rsquo;m performing external aerodynamics simulations on an ogive-cylinder body in Fluent and I&rsquo;m facing problems with the generation of &ldquo;oilflow&rdquo; pathlines.<br \/><!-- [if !supportLineBreakNewLine]--><br \/><!--[endif]--><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">The mesh is full hexa, generated in ICEM.<br \/>I&rsquo;m using the k-omega SST model for turbulence and I would like to resolve the viscous sub-layer without wall functions. So, I prepared a low-Re mesh, with a y+&lt;1, which led to a very small value of the first cell height (1e-6, which is 5 order of magnitude less than the length of the body).<\/p>\n<p>The result is that almost all the pathlines get aborted really soon (just dashes), no matter how much I decrease the tolerance.<\/p>\n<p>If I opt for an high-Re mesh, with y+ around 100 and first cell height in the order of 1e-4, the pathlines are computed without problems.<\/p>\n<p>The cells near the wall have good orthogonality, but very stretched (maximum aspect ratio 2e+03), is the high aspect ratio the source of this problem?<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-235097","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry","topic-tag-ansys-fluent"],"aioseo_notices":[],"aioseo_head":"\n\t\t<!-- All in One SEO 4.9.10 - aioseo.com -->\n\t<meta name=\"description\" content=\"Hi all,I\u2019m performing external aerodynamics simulations on an ogive-cylinder body in Fluent and I\u2019m facing problems with the generation of \u201coilflow\u201d pathlines.The mesh is full hexa, generated in ICEM.I\u2019m using the k-omega SST model for turbulence and I would like to resolve the viscous sub-layer without wall functions.
