{"id":219283,"date":"2022-07-21T01:15:06","date_gmt":"2022-07-21T01:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/inverse-design-of-y-branch-2-5d-optimized-geometry-gds-were-not-saved\/"},"modified":"2022-07-21T01:15:06","modified_gmt":"2022-07-21T01:15:06","slug":"inverse-design-of-y-branch-2-5d-optimized-geometry-gds-were-not-saved","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/inverse-design-of-y-branch-2-5d-optimized-geometry-gds-were-not-saved\/","title":{"rendered":"Inverse design of y-branch: 2.5D optimized Geometry &amp; GDS were not saved"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I am trying to use the sample files for<a href=\"https:\/\/optics.ansys.com\/hc\/en-us\/articles\/360042305274\"> inverse design of y-branch<\/a> without making any changes to follow the steps.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>After running the 2.5D optimization, I finally got the optimized geometry in the Figure 1 and the MODE file &#8220;adjoint_0.lms&#8221; as shown below.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/21-07-2022-1658365605-mceclip0.png\" width=\"547\" height=\"332\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/21-07-2022-1658365626-mceclip1.png\"><\/p>\n<p>When the optimization was done, the MODE file named &#8220;y_branch_2D_FINAL.lms&#8221; showed up as shown below. However, the geometry was different from the optimized one. When I ran the 3D optimization, this geometry was used as the initial input. Thus, the 3D optimization did not work well.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/21-07-2022-1658365872-mceclip2.png\" width=\"555\" height=\"316\"><\/p>\n<p>And more, the GDS file was not generated after the 2.5D optimization, though the text file named &#8220;2D_parameters.txt&#8221; was generated in the same folder as the sample files and the python files.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/forum\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2022\/07\/21-07-2022-1658365945-mceclip3.png\" width=\"389\" height=\"273\"><\/p>\n<p>Thus, I would like to know&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Q1. Why the 2.5D optimized geometry was not shown in y_branch_2D_FINAL.lms<\/p>\n<p>Q2. Why the 2.5D optimized geometry was not used as the initial input for the 3D optimization<\/p>\n<p>Q3.
