


{"id":218197,"date":"2022-07-11T15:00:12","date_gmt":"2022-07-11T15:00:12","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/hfss-parametric-sweep-post-processing-with-primary-secondary-boundary-conditions\/"},"modified":"2022-07-11T18:32:07","modified_gmt":"2022-07-11T18:32:07","slug":"hfss-parametric-sweep-post-processing-with-primary-secondary-boundary-conditions","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/hfss-parametric-sweep-post-processing-with-primary-secondary-boundary-conditions\/","title":{"rendered":"HFSS Parametric Sweep Post-Processing with Primary\/Secondary Boundary Conditions"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hello,<\/p>\n<p>Posting this question on behalf of a user.<\/p>\n<p>I am simulating a single period of a periodic structure (a periodic waveguide) with primary\/secondary boundary conditions and sweeping the phase on the second boundary to get a plot of the dispersion curves as a function of the swept phase. &nbsp;There are a few quantities I would like to extract from this simulation at a particular phase including the complex-valued electric field, the electric field&#8217;s phase along the beam tunnel axis, and the power through the beam tunnel&#8217;s cross-section. &nbsp;The issue I&#8217;m running into is that these values are functions of the phase advance in space (i.e., k*z) across the periodic waveguide, but the HFSS stack calculator&#8217;s definition of &#8220;phase&#8221; is the phase in time (i.e., omega*t), so I am unable to figure out how to use a specific spatial phase (the phase I swept in the simulation using &#8220;Optimetrics&#8221;) in my calculations. &nbsp;The swept phase is a project variable I defined and when electing to sweep it parametrically, I do click the &#8220;Save Fields&#8221; box under the &#8220;Optimtrics&#8221; menu. &nbsp;For this reason, I do believe the information I need has been calculated, I just cannot figure out a way to extract it correctly. &nbsp;I have been struggling to find an answer in the HFSS user manual, as well.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>I found a way around this issue by not sweeping the phase, but instead, by choosing a single phase and running an entirely separate simulation; however, this is incredibly time consuming and inefficient. &nbsp;I need to be able to extract this data\/perform the aforementioned calculations for a number of discrete phases.<br \/>&nbsp;<br \/>Any help\/suggestions regarding this topic would be greatly appreciated!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-218197","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_bbp_author_ip":["10.0.2.12"]," _bbp_last_reply_id":["0"]," _bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_btv_view_count":["2415"],"_wp_old_slug":["hfss-parametric-sweep-post-processing-with-primary-secondary-boundary-conditions__trashed-2"],"_edit_lock":["1657564683:41550"],"_bbp_subscription":["731","42527"],"_bbp_likes_count":["1"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["218197"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27793"],"_bbp_engagement":["25","731","42527"],"_bbp_voice_count":["3"],"_bbp_reply_count":["3"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["218661"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["218661"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2022-07-16 18:24:26"]},"test":"8ef5572af9344f978dfefdd85eda49feaf39289b"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/218197","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/218197\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=218197"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
