


{"id":169592,"date":"2022-05-19T09:59:57","date_gmt":"2022-05-19T09:59:57","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/is-adaptive-meshing-really-a-good-solution\/"},"modified":"2022-05-19T12:08:40","modified_gmt":"2022-05-19T12:08:40","slug":"is-adaptive-meshing-really-a-good-solution","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/is-adaptive-meshing-really-a-good-solution\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Adaptive meshing really a good solution?"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"Item-Body\">\n<div class=\"Message userContent\">\n<p>I&#039;ve previously used other multiphysics software for magnetostatic FEA, and have now switched to Ansys.<\/p>\n<p>One thing that surprises me is the adaptive meshing feature &#8211; and if it&#039;s really as amazing as it&#039;s advertised. <\/p>\n<p>I vividly remember from my University classes that pouring more elements into a model is not always a good solution, as it rapidly increases computation time, especially if it&#039;s done without careful consideration. <\/p>\n<p>I&#039;m currently looking at a 3D magnetostatic model, which have gone from an initial 375k elements to now over 3 million in 9 adaptive passes.
