


{"id":167748,"date":"2022-03-25T14:39:03","date_gmt":"2022-03-25T14:39:03","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/topic\/regarding-total-time-steps-or-flow-time\/"},"modified":"2022-03-30T18:18:23","modified_gmt":"2022-03-30T18:18:23","slug":"regarding-total-time-steps-or-flow-time","status":"closed","type":"topic","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/topic\/regarding-total-time-steps-or-flow-time\/","title":{"rendered":"Regarding total time steps or flow time"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"Item-Body\">\n<div class=\"Message userContent\">\n<p>I want to solve a transient supersonic nozzle flow problem.<\/p>\n<p>For which there are no experimental data available, because of which I don&#039;t know how much total time, should the simulation take in order to stop the simulations.<\/p>\n<p>Based on the smallest grid size and using CFL &lt; 1 , I am able to determine the time step size to be of order 1e-8.<\/p>\n<p>But I don&#039;t know, how many time steps or flow time I should give.<\/p>\n<p>I am interpolating the steady state solution then running the transient settings by giving arbitrary number of time steps <\/p>\n<p>So from the starting of iterations itself I am not seeing any change in mass imbalance monitor curve. Only residuals is oscillating with constant amplitude and frequency, I guess.<\/p>\n<p>And also I have checked the animation of contour of Mach number, it is not showing any change in behavior, it exactly looks like steady state solution plot.<\/p>\n<p>I am not sure whether is it happening because I am checking the results too early means do I need to wait for days, weeks or months to see any change.<\/p>\n<p>I really don&#039;t have any idea about what should be my waiting period time in order to get a confidence to accept the solution for further post processing.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-167748","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry","topic-tag-ansys-fluent","topic-tag-help","topic-tag-time-steps-1","topic-tag-totaltime-1","topic-tag-transient-analysis"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_btv_view_count":["3022"],"_bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["167748"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27792"],"_bbp_engagement":["199","22555","214879"],"_bbp_voice_count":["3"],"_bbp_reply_count":["11"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["209689"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["209689"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2022-03-30 18:18:23"]},"test":"karthik29112kgmail-com"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/167748","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/167748\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=167748"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
