In trying to verify the accuracy of the simulations, I am comparing the magnetic fields generated from a current carrying circular loop of copper wire inside a cylindrical shell magnetic shield made of mu-metal with a custom relative permeability of 10^8. I simulated this in two different Ansys geometries, cylindrical around z (2D) and cartesian (3D). The cylindrical around z solution agrees very well with an analytic theory from literature. However, the 3D simulation does not agree to the degree of accuracy expected or required for our purposes. One of the troubling aspects is there is significant magnetic field leakage outside the high permeability magnetic shield for 3D but not 2D. Does anyone know what the problem could be? I have refined the mesh, decreased the energy error tolerance, and thickened the shield, but none of these solve the issue.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-166909","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry","topic-tag-current","topic-tag-electromagnetics","topic-tag-magnetic-field","topic-tag-maxwell"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"custom_fields":[{"0":{"_btv_view_count":["599"],"_bbp_likes_count":["0"],"_bbp_subscription":["251267"],"_bbpmt_movedon":["2022-07-01 16:27:42"],"_bbpmt_movedfrom":["151970"],"_bbp_topic_status":["unanswered"],"_bbp_status":["publish"],"_bbp_topic_id":["166909"],"_bbp_forum_id":["27793"],"_bbp_engagement":["94","228196"],"_bbp_voice_count":["2"],"_bbp_reply_count":["1"],"_bbp_last_reply_id":["207184"],"_bbp_last_active_id":["207184"],"_bbp_last_active_time":["2022-03-09 10:51:34"]},"test":"dg2073princeton-edu"}],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/166909","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/topic"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/topics\/166909\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=166909"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
