As boundary conditions, I assigned top wall surface of soil block a fixed temperature of 70C and bottom wall a fixed temperature of 31.4C. However, when I ran the simulation and plotted temperature along the vertical depth of the block in a xy plot , I found something interesting. If I plot total temperature against depth, then the temperature of top and bottom surface values are not equal to 70C and 31.4C. Instead they were 68C and 31.6C. However, if I plot static temperature against depth, then the temperature of top and bottom surface values are indeed equal to 70C and 31.4C.

I am not sure why this is happening. What exactly is the difference between total and static temperature here? So does this mean I have to use static temperature when plotting and avoid using total temperature? I just want to get temperature variation with depth of solid block .

Your kind advice would be highly appreciated!

Thank you!

["post-166351","topic","type-topic","status-closed","hentry","topic-tag-fluent-post-processing","topic-tag-temperature","topic-tag-xy-plot
[{"0":
3423
0
253866
unanswered
publish
166351
27792
5976","22555","179749
3
6
205336
205336
2022-02-15 07:28:44
["GET
