The figure below shows one example assembly of the fluid and the solid parts, with a breakout of the fluid and solid components. Due to the sharp transition from the bulk of the fluid on top of the piston to the squeeze film along the sides of the piston, the only way I have been able to mesh the fluid is to separate the fluid into two (or more) separate parts.
