{"id":392482,"date":"2024-11-02T22:02:42","date_gmt":"2024-11-02T22:02:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/reply\/392482\/"},"modified":"2024-11-02T22:02:42","modified_gmt":"2024-11-02T22:02:42","slug":"392482","status":"publish","type":"reply","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/reply\/392482\/","title":{"rendered":"Reply To: Cores when working in static structure"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&lt;p&gt;The Static Structural license includes the ability to solve on 4 cores.&nbsp; You need an HPC license to add cores.&nbsp; What kind of HPC license do you have?&nbsp; There was a license called an HPC-Pack and that added 8 cores, so with one Pack, you could solve on 12 cores, with two Packs, you could solve on 20 cores.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;You should never use all the cores, the documentation tells you this. When I had a 16 core computer a while ago, the time would go down by a smaller increment after each core was added but then the solution time flattened out and when the last core was added, the solution time increased!&nbsp; If you have the HPC Packs to go up to 20 cores, you might find the solution time flattens out in the 6-12 core range on problems with a lot of contact or remote points that touch a lot of nodes.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-392482","reply","type-reply","status-publish","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/replies\/392482","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/replies"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/reply"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/replies\/392482\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=392482"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
