


{"id":364278,"date":"2024-04-25T16:26:53","date_gmt":"2024-04-25T16:26:53","guid":{"rendered":"\/forum\/forums\/reply\/364278\/"},"modified":"2024-04-25T16:26:53","modified_gmt":"2024-04-25T16:26:53","slug":"364278","status":"publish","type":"reply","link":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/forums\/reply\/364278\/","title":{"rendered":"Reply To: High voltage cable in Maxwell 3D"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&lt;p&gt;I created an Ansys Maxwell and Icepak Two-Way Coupling analysis for 1cm of cable based on the video:&lt;br&gt;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/4MWTGHqRpjk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4MWTGHqRpjk<\/a>&lt;br&gt;&lt;br&gt;With the Eddy Current solver, I achieved an ohmic loss of 0.27W and a cable temperature of 65 degrees Celsius. I was not satisfied with this result &#8211; it&#8217;s a bit low.&nbsp;&lt;br&gt;I tried an analysis in the Magnestostatic solver, where the ohmic loss was 0.51W &#8211; almost double that. Then the cable temperature was 85 degrees Celsius and that was the result I wanted.&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Why are these results so different? I don&#8217;t understand which one is correct and which solver should be used to model this cable.&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I need to ask for an AC current of 1662A and a frequency of 50 Hz.&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I have found several different articles in which the authors use either the Eddy Current or Magnestostatic solver for the AC, hence my doubts and questions.&lt;\/p&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"template":"","class_list":["post-364278","reply","type-reply","status-publish","hentry"],"aioseo_notices":[],"acf":[],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/replies\/364278","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/replies"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/reply"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/replies\/364278\/revisions"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/innovationspace.ansys.com\/forum\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=364278"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
