What questions do you want the model to answer? Do you need Bolt Pretension in the model to answer those questions?&nbsp;&lt;\/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;I build models of structures with torqued down bolts but the global model has fixed joints or beam connections instead of bolts and has no contact because the area of interest is not near the bolted joint. There may also be a detailed model of the bolted joint interface, but it will be of a small section of the structure cutout to study using a more detailed mesh with solid elements instead of beams and shells.
