Just to give some background I am trying to simulate a fluoresence emission from a volume of water, and I am analyzing the flux/wavelengths excited/emitted onto a detector, as well as performing stray light analysis. I am running a non-sequential raytrace and seeing the following error:
The custom .STEP CAD geometry I am simulating is relatively complex, and I have increased the limit on intersections to the maximum. However even with a relatively low amount of rays (~1000) I am still getting this error. Below is my non sequential setup, I have "many" bulk scattering enabled on my source, however even set to "once" I am not getting much better results.
I have read through this support article (https://support.zemax.com/hc/en-us/articles/1500005488261-What-does-not-enough-segments-allocated-to-trace-all-possible-ray-paths-mean) which emphasises the importance of having a sufficient maximum intersection limit per ray and explains what intersections and segments are, but does not really give much else beyond increasing them.
I am wondering if anyone has had similar issues with segements or intersections and if anyone has general advice on solving these?

Thank you for reaching out to us! May I ask you if you have considered the Minimum Relative Ray Intensity, rays below this level of intensity will not be drawn by OS. More info on this here Non-sequential (system explorer)?
Another option would be to use filter strings to display (or to save, if you use them in the ray trace control) only rays or data which have certain properties. The supported flags are listed here The Filter String (Have a look at the X_GHOST ones).
