Hello
Â
I want to work on turbulent combustion, large eddy simulation, and spray combustion with Ansys Fluent. What kind of workstation would you recommend for solving a model with around 10 million cells, in terms of processor, RAM, etc.?

As general advice. For 10M cells I'd be looking for over 20 (real) cores, possibly up to around 100. For RAM you're likely to be wanting at least 40GB give or take depending on how detailed the combustion model is. Assuming you have access to the University cluster, I'd try running on there to get an idea before buying anything. You also need to factor in solver and parallel (HPC) licences.Â
Also look on ansys.com for supported Platforms as not all OS are compatible with the software: Windows 10 & 11 (or some versions of - read the document) and some Linux/Unix are covered.Â
