I have a model like above where the outside is a cuboid and the inside is the Spheroid. I am giving a prestrain to the spheroid to see the cracks generating in the outside cuboid. Though till now I am not able to find how to initiate a crack in Ansys, I tried to make a Semi-Elliptical crack by looking at the maximum principal stress and therefore giving a crack as Semi-Elliptical following.nnActually, there is more than one spheroid, it is because I want accuracy in the results so to get good meshing around inclusions I added the spheroids. As you can see the outer spheroid in the following figure is part of cuboid i.e where I try to find out crack propagation. The cracks should be on the surface of the second spheroid as I put you can see.n
nnBut when I try to mesh the cracks the following message is shown.n
What I am doing wrong?nCan anyone guess what is the problem? I would be grateful if anyone can share their thought on it.n

Ansys EmployeeHi Array ,
In Semi-elliptical crack modelling, the coordinate system at crack location is very important.
·      x-axis: Should be towards body
·      y-axis: Should be along the load direction
·      Crack should in XZ plane
You have created coordinate system correctly (as per the image) for one crack. But, it should be different for other crack. Can you use separate co-ordinate systems for both the cracks. As direction of x-axis for co-ordinate system will be different. This might solve your problem.
Regards,
Amaniyar.
