Hi all,

I'm using ANSYS 2021R1 and in my project I have a certain amount (25) of named selections.

I use these named selections for contacts, forces, restraints and to select certain bodies for showing results. These named selection are all created using the worksheet.

the model itself exists out of shells and solids and contain 5544 bodies. When sending it from spaceclaim to mechanical it takes normally up to 5 minutes. But once the named selections are created and attached to the corresponding contacts, forces, restraints and results, the time to update the geometry goes up to 45! minutes. When deleting the named selections and the corresponding contacts, forces, ... the time drops again towards 5 minutes. Also when changing the select by named selection into geometry and delete the named selection, the time drops back towards 5 minutes

Does somebody else have the same problem, or a workaround or tips to avoid this problem?

Set these options to No:
Set No for generate on geometry refresh
Set No to Generate on Remesh


Update the model, then manually update the mesh and named selections to see if you can figure out which named selection is slow to update
