Simulating scrapes

I wonder if it is possible to simulate scrapes i.e. vehicle passes underneath a bridge but scrapes the girder (i.e. still makes contact with the girder but still continues to go underneath the bridge as opposed to a full impact where it stops after making contact with girder). I already simulated full impacts, and for scrapes I just lowered the position of the vehicle but unfortunately it just passes underneath without contacting the girder...despite adjusting different positions it is either it passes underneath without contacting the girder or I get a full impact case. So I wanted to ask if there is a way to do this. Below is a picture of the model for reference.

      Hi,

For more realistic contact between the bridge and the car, try using frictional contact between the car surfaces and the bridge parts. Additionally, if you wish to see a more realistic impact, consider using nonlinear material properties for the car body to observe plastic deformation. To simulate the impact more accurately, ensure that you are performing a transient structural simulation.
