Dear forum users, I am working on excessively complicated CAD geometry due to my research project. I am faced with the share topology problem (as I guess). Let me explain the problem step by step.
In order to simplify the geometry, I use the SpaceClaim & Design Modeler. I just deleted the mounting/assembling parts of the geometry. These parts are specified just to mount the geometry to the specific objects in real life (e.g. wall, box, etc.). In the meshing part, I prefer to use Fluent Meshing (TGrid) to deal with complex geometry meshing. I can easily mesh it even though the some specific warnings that addressing me to the Share Topology step.Â
As you know, the share topology step is an obligation for CAD geometries. Specifically, in this step, I got the errors of "XXX object connected with the volume mesh" or bugged/stuck with just the loading sign in my cursor with respect to different geometry scenarios that I prepared. If I shared the topology manually through the SpaceClaim, DesignModeler, etc., then If I mark this step as updated, Fluent Meshing just only cares about one face/part of my geometry which is unnecessary.Â
Can you help me to solve this problem? Thanks a lot!

Hello, for complex CAD geometries care must be taken to clean, repair and prepare the CAD properly before meshing in order to generate the error free mesh. During CAD preparation, Share Topology should be applied between the required parts only.
To know more about these steps, please have a look at the Lesson 1 of the External Aerodynamic Analysis of an FSAE Car using Ansys CFD course. This lesson has three parts and it discusses most of the CAD preparation steps using Ansys Discovery. The options available under Ansys Discovery is very similar to SpaceClaim. The link of the lesson is given below.
