SubscriberHi all,
I am fairly new to Ansys and I am trying to perform a creep simulation on a 4-point bending assembly. I am applying a small deflection (0.015 mm) to my chromium sample at 1200 C and then performing the creep calculation for 100 hrs. However, the equivalent creep strain values come out to be minuscule (~1.7E-23). I am not quite sure what I am doing wrong. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

Do a hand calculation on the creep strain assuming constant stress of some value. You will see that the result is reasonable given the inputs. Since the stress result is not shown let's assume the entire part is at 100 MPa. Then given the inputs creep strain = (100x60x60) x (3.2555E-31)*(100^6.2)*(exp(-36386/1373)) ~ 1E-24. Are you sure the curve fit of the creep test data gave 3.2555E-31 for the first constant in Nortons equation? That is a very small number indeed.
