Multistep simulation in Ls-Dyna Workbench

Hi everyone, I would like to perform a multistep simulation in Ls-Dyna Workbench (using an explicit solver). Is it possible to use the solution geometry and the stress/strain state of each step as the initial condition for the following step?

      Thank you in advance

      Hi Camilla,

You can exploit “restart” capabilities of LS-DYNA that are available in Workbench LS-DYNA as well (see the image below)

Please check the following document to see which restart type is appropriate for your case:

Thank you Armin for your suggestion. I checked the document you mentioned but I did not find a way to insert an additional step into the simulation. I would simulate step1 by applying compression to my geometry and then step2 by displacing the compressed geometry (the result of step1). Do you have any additional suggestion?

Thank you in advance for your availability

      Hi Camilla,

What you described might need a full restart, but if you have access to Ansys Learning Hub (ALH), the 3rd lesson of the following course describes the use of small restarts capabilities of Workbench LS-DYNA for subsequent impacts of a bicycle helmet model that may be helpful to you:

Thank you again Armin for your help, however, I don't have access to Ansys Learning Hub so I am not able to check the lesson you mentioned
