Hi Thank you for interesting in Lumerical products.
For thermal control with light, it seems you will need FDTD and HEAT. FDTD solves Maxwell's Equations discretly, and HEAT solves thermal transport. There are some free videos scattered in the Ansys optics websites. You may also find some free videos on Youtube and other websites.
