I am working on a simulation of axial compressor through CFX, and want to obtain the averaged streamline distribution on meridional surface to do some analysis. As shown in figure1, in the turbo interface of CFD-POST, there is a selection of the number of stream samples, does this mean the sample number of streamlines on meridional surface? If so, whether the displayed mesh in figure 2 is actually generated by the intersection of streamlines and their orthogonal curves ? And figure 3 is the plotting of velocity vector on meridional surface.
Additionally, I also want to know the relation between the distributions of 3D streamlines and strealines on meridional surface, as illustrated in figure 4 is the generated 3D streamlines in the whole passage, and in figure 5 is the projection of these streamlines on Meridional surface, and it can be found that the shape of it is distinct from mesh lines. So I am wondering the extracting approach of meridional streamlines, or whether the distribution of the obtained mesh is actually the averaged streamlines?

HiÂ
Cirferential averaging is used to obtain values for variables on the meridional surface. The types of circumferential averaging are: Length, Area, MassÂ
More details about averaging can be found here: 15.7.6. Turbo Charts
