Hello everyone,
I hope you are doing well.
I have two main questions related to the extraction of the Electric/Magnetic field distribution.
I've been simulating metasurfaces in the Mid-IR leveraging the Bound States in the Continuum and while I've been able to set up the interfaces, I'm still having some troubles with determining the Electric/Magnetic field distribution
In particular I wanted to ask you if it could be possible, as with FDTD, to set a Frequency Domain Field and Power like monitor also with RCWA and from it extract the Electric/Magnetic field distribution (particularly the squared absolute value).
Also, related to that, I wanted to ask if it could be possible to do that also in 3D namely not so much on a cut on a specific direction but in a specified volume.
Thank you in advance for the answer.
I wish you a good day.
Giovanni

Hi Giovanni,
You may use an RCWA field monitor to record the field distribution. You should see it in the drop-down options in "Monitors". You may record the field in 3D as well. I haven't really used it a lot. But I have heard feedback from my colleagues that the RCWA monitors reduce the simulation speed significantly. So, I would recommend using it when it is essential.
Regards,

Hello Amrita,
thank you very much for the answer and for all the details! I will definitely try with the RCWA field monitor.
I wish you a good day.
