Hi,
a daily challenge is to explain our customers the rules and principles for the geometry data exchange in a mixed system environment build from ANSYS Discovery Simulation and classical SpaceClaim Engineer applications.
There is no paper available as I know which is describing the options and processes when being requested to execute such data exchange. I would like to have a valid document (1 page, max. 2 pages) which I can send to a prospect or customer to avoid a lot of work explaining the processes to an user. This would avoid major concerns and fears on the user side.
Thanks and regards

Hello Ghost1246
Are you looking for geometry transfer over to Discovery from SpaceClaim? You can open the scdoc file directly in Discovery as well. Or is this issue with the drawing sheets you have in the files. I am not sure exactly what the issue is. Can you please elaborate further?
Regards.

Hi,Â
following another internal discussion with our technical staff we and also our customers suffer from the confusion around the data exchange and format changes in ANSYS SpaceClaim (.sdoc-format) and the format used in Discovery products , e.g. Discovery simulation (.dsco-format). There are customers which are using ANSYS SpaceClaim for design tasks which want to transfer the design geometry to Discovery simulation for simulation task. In such cases the systems generates duplicated entities (.sdoc and .dsco formatted) which cannot be handled in part adminstration systems as all entities are doubled. Â
It would be helpful to use a document which is providing to customers a recommendation which explains the data format differences and will provide suggestions how to handle such user scenarios. Until now it is a mess and is generating frustration of mixed users (SpaceClaim/Discovery).Thanks for checking this issue and looking for a description which can be forwarded to our customers in order to create a better understanding or a plan how to work. Thanks and regards
