Calculation of Swirl Velocity

      Hi,

Right now, i am solving the problem in ansys Fluent.

I want to introduce swirl velocity at the inlet, since i am working on 2D model. I have inlet velocity of 7.437m/s and swirl angle 45 degrees caused by Fins. The radial velocity in this case is assumed to be zero.

I need help in solving the Swirl/ tangential and axial velocity components.

      Thanks & Regards

      Hello,

Please refer to section 7.3.4 - Velocity Inlet Boundary condition in the Fluent Users Guide.

I have attached a small snippet from the same section here. I hope this helps.

      Best,

      Karthik

We have options to define swirl velocity under velocity boundary conditions.

Under co-ordinate system, you can choose cylindrical swirl and provide swirl boundary conditions.

Hi, I am trying to simulate an actuator disk to show results as a drone propeller. Firstly I calculate the pressure drop of the actual drone propeller (MRF) between upper and lower surface (see image) and now I am trying to set this pressure drop onto the disk actuator simulation by setting a plain surface with the diameter of the propeller as a fan. My main problem is that if I only set the pressure drop as a constant I do not get accurate results, so I would like to know if I should also set the swirl – velocity specification on the fan dialog box and if so, how can I get those parameters from the actual propeller simulation? Since I am a bit lost right now.

      Thanks in advance.
