SubscriberI would like to use the Heat Exchanger module for flow analysis inside a factory. In particular, I am trying to do an unsteady analysis that controls the coil's auxiliary flow rate depending on the temperature at a specific location, but I am wondering if UDF or Expression cannot be applied.
Does anyone know if there is a solution for this?

Forum ModeratorLooking at the panel, I suspect it's a no for Expressions as there isn't an option to hook them in. There might be some UDF hooks, but as I can't see a hook in the panel, nor the UDF function hooks I can't say for sure. There might be some semi-hidden options but I don't know, and if I found out I'd be unable to comment on the Forum.Â
Note, the heat exchanger model was added for a few specific purposes as an addon in about v6 so may lack the user function hooks if they're hard coded elsewhere in Fluent.Â
An alternative might be to code up a DEFINE_SOURCE UDF for energy and write your own version.Â

SubscriberUm... Can you report to dev team about this? I think that is not difficult job... If I can control auxiliary flow by expression or udf then I will be happy.

Forum ModeratorI will put an enhancement request in. I can't feedback on anything on that process though, and that includes any acceptance/release information.Â
