I thought HYDRO = 2 would append the history variables at the end, but it seems to have done so somewhere in the middle. I'm saving a lot of historical variables. I found the density history variable by going through the history variables one by one. In this manner, I was able to store the elemental density history for any particle. In my instance, it turned out to be history variable 17 of the 28 that I had stored.
