Check you actually have a valid mesh from the preview. From memory whilst you may get some surface cells there's something missing so you don't technically have a mesh. No mesh means no metrics. Inflation may force another effect so you have something to report. 

For 3d I'd tend to favour Fluent Meshing in most scenarios now. For extruded geometry Ansys Meshing (termed Mechanical or Workbench Meshing too) still has some advantages but with more stuff going into Fluent Meshing it'll not be long before we can do everything thing there.Â
