FSI is used when we're deforming the solids. If the solid shape is unchanged we don't need to include those effects and "just" need so consider the motion of the parts: 6DOF will handle that. You'll need some constraints to prevent solid contact. 

FSI and new to the software is a really bad combination. There's a reason we always try and start simple and work up to complicated. A full FSI model, possibly with 6DOF isn't an application for a new user: I'd be getting help from colleagues for this as it's outside of my normal area.Â
