1. Static Structural can simulate the springback effect when you use a 2 step solution. Step 1 move the punch down. Step 2 move the punch up.
2. Yes, you need at least 4 hex elements through the thickness.  This is why it is so advantageous to do the problem in 2D plane strain.
3. Show the error you had for the plane strain model.
