SubscriberHello
Currently, I am using student version of ANSYS Fluent.
I have a purchased license of the same.
However, I am unable to change the server name on my laptop for using the new license.
Please guide in this regard.
Presently, the server name is set as my desktop name.
Thanks

Ansys EmployeeAlthough not causing any issue, I'd recommend to uninstall the ANSYS Student version.
To specify license server machine, launch the Client ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility v1x.x with "run as administrator" > Specify the License Server Machine > Add Server Machine Specification > in the Hostname 1 box , type the hostname of the server > OKÂ
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberHello,
I have tried doing this several times.
Expected hostname gets saved in the system.
I even changed the order of the servers. I placed the expected server name as hostname1.
But the older hostname, i.e. my desktop name, can be seen as active and it does not get changed.
Please reply if you can guide.
Thanks

Ansys EmployeeYou will have to make sure that the correct Client ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility is used as this will modify the 'ansyslmd.ini' file in the directory relative to where this utility is launched. If you have multiple ANSYS versions and mixed between ANSYS Student and the academic installed, you will have multiple locations for your Client ANSLIC_ADMIN Utility.
Check if this file contains correct license server information (change path accordingly to your ANSYS version installed path)Â C:Program FilesANSYS IncShared FilesLicensingansyslmd.ini
Also, there are environment variables that can be used to point to license servers. If these environment variables are set, they precede the server information you specify in Client ANSLIC_ADMIN (ansyslmd.ini file). You can open up CMD Prompt, then type set and post the output here. I can help check it.
Thanks,
Win
