Running HFSS simulation / optimetrics, and as you can see in the screen shots below, it completes first couple variations (optimetrics) then gives this error! This only happens when GPU is enabled (3 tasks, HPC config shown in the images below).
Â
Is this really a license issue? Maybe in the middle of the simulation, for a certain variation, the computational load is too much that the GPU kicks in and gives this error?! It also helps to know when does the GPU kick in and so when it is useful computationally.
Â
Thanks,
Ali

Ansys EmployeeHi Ali,
The error with 'Failed to check out license.....' is because your ansoft_distrib_engine has this so-called TECs expiration date that is older than the release date of your HFSS version. Contact your ANSYS Account Manager and ask about the TECs of this 'DSO' (ansoft_distrib_engine) license. Once you have a new license file with valid TECs, please ask the license server admin to install that new license file. This issue, however, should be independent from GPU setting.
Since you are specifying 3 tasks, this requires 3 seats of ansoft_distrib_engine. I think your first 2 seats have valid TECs but you have issue with the third seat of ansoft_distrib_engine. Do you get the same issue if you only use 2 tasks ?
The role of GPU in your simulation requires HFSS expert to comment as it depends on analysis type. Please create another thread in Physics Simulation -> Electromagnetics section to inquire about that.
Thanks,
Win

SubscriberThanks Win for your quick response.Â
I'll check with two tasks, but I think I only saw two tasks run in parallel instead of three (perhaps for the TECs reason you mentioned)

Ansys EmployeeYou are welcome !
If the issue with hf3d error persists, please let me know your graphics card model and its driver version.
Thanks,
Win

Ansys EmployeeAli,
Try updating your graphics driver from https://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us
If issue persists, I recommend asking HFSS folks in the other section for the use of GPU with your analysis.
Thanks,
Win
