width=This course covers the fundamentals and applications of thermodynamics principles in solving practical problems. It focuses on entropy change of a control volume, air compression, heat exchangers, and mixing chambers. The course uses illustrative examples such as the throttling of refrigerant R134a, a compressor cooling air, and the flow of air through a pipe at varying pressures, temperatures, and velocities. It also explains how to calculate power input, entropy generation, mass flow rates, and the rate of entropy generation. The course further delves into the understanding of processes such as heat transfer, work input, and entropy change in a condenser, and the principles of compressor and heat exchanger operations.
