In this lesson, we will learn how to use the layered section technique to define a composite laminate and apply it to the quadcopter rotor arm geometry in Ansys Mechanical™ structural finite element analysis software. Building on the previous steps—where we simplified the geometry, imported composite materials, and generated a 2D mesh, this part focuses on assigning laminate layers to the rotor arm. We will then define a static load case, simulating the thrust force from the quadcopter motor, and perform post-processing to analyze the structural response.
The following video walks through opening the Ansys Mechanical tool, assigning layered sections, applying forces, and interpreting the simulation results, ensuring a realistic composite material behavior representation for better structural performance evaluation.
