Intro to Harmonic Analysis — Lesson 1

You have likely seen a bee pollinating a flower, but did you know it is not always exactly as it seems? There is a hidden physics trick that the flower and the bee leverage to ensure that the right pollinator gets the pollen.  It's a symbiotic relationship with its basis in harmonic motion.

Likewise, you probably have seen or even used an electric toothbrush.  What is the magic that gets your teeth clean?

Harmonic motion is all around us — in the beautiful music we hear from a song or orchestra, in natural phenomena, in everyday products and of course, especially, in the design of mechanical systems.

In this course, we will introduce harmonic motion with a few examples and further investigate why it is important in the context of structural mechanics.
