Wave Interactions - Lesson 2

Supersonic flows generate shock and expansion waves as they interact with solid boundaries that present any sort of deflection. When the supersonic flow is moving inside a duct, additional phenomena are observed. Small deflections can generate shock and expansion waves. These waves reflect on the duct walls and eventually interact with each other, creating complex patterns. However, this is not always a negative effect. Knowledge of the physics involved in these complex interactions can be applied in useful applications. Let's explore how in this lesson.
